Founded by a former United States Marine, the shop embodies a mix of resilience, creativity, and a touch of magic. The story begins in 2011, when Stephanie faced an unexpected medical separation from the Corps. Determined not to let her dreams slip away, she started sewing and crafting home décor at her kitchen table, all while navigating the challenges of raising two boys and pursuing higher education. By 2013, jewelry crafting had captured her imagination, and a spark ignited: she didn’t want to make “just any jewelry”—she wanted to create something that spoke to a unique, niche community.

After years of building skills, earning a degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship, and running her first Etsy shop, Stephanie found her true calling in the planner world. She noticed a gap: there were no products for the nerdy, witchy souls who wanted to celebrate their quirks while staying organized. That realization led to the birth of Horsefeather Peculiars in 2018. Officially launching their website in 2020, the shop now offers dragon and crystal jewelry alongside planner stickers designed with a “witchy with a side of nerd” aesthetic. Every Colorway, every kit, and every sticker is designed to minimize waste and maximize joy, offering a palette of seven colors per kit that can be mixed and matched across the collection.

Easier said than done sometimes, but it keeps you moving forward.”

Her advice for new shop owners echoes her own journey—planning and persistence are everything. Ultimately, it’s the people that make it worthwhile.
